About us

It is about 60 kms south of Nha Trang City, Cam Ranh Port is located in Cam Ranh Bay - one of the three best and most beautiful natural bays in the world – which is surrounded by Cam Ranh peninsula in the east and mountains in the south; connected to East Sea through two sea gates named Cua Dai and Cua Tieu. Cam Ranh Bay has an area of 60 square kms, its average depth is 18 – 30 meters, alluvium is not significant. Since Cam Ranh Bay is covered by lots of islands, so it is not much affected by wind and wave.

Cam Ranh Port is 3 kms from North-South Railway, 2 kms from National Highway 1A, and 20 km from Cam Ranh International Airport. Cam Ranh Port is located at the center of South Central and Central Highlands region.

History

1975

Vietnam was unified, Ba Ngoi Port was merged with Nha Trang Port to form a new entity called Nha Trang – Ba Ngoi Port Cluster, directly under Vietnam Maritime Administration based on Decision No. 432/QĐ-TC issued on February 7^th, 1976 by Ministry of Transport.

During this time, cargo was mostly salt which was delivered to port by train for exporting to Soviet Union.

1991

On May 18th, 1991, Ministry of Transport issued Decision No. 933/QĐ-TCCB-LĐ, to hand over Ba Ngoi Port to local Authorities.
On September 30th, 1992, Ministry of Transport issued Decision No. 2017/QĐ/VT to proclaim Ba Ngoi Port as an International Commercial Seaport.

2001

The People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province had invested to upgrade berth’s capacity up to 30.000 DWT and taken into operation on 2005.

2007

In October 2007, Ba Ngoi Port became a member of Vietnam Maritime Corporation which took over from The People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province.

2009

On January 16th, 2009, Ministry of Transport issued Decision No. 168/QĐ-BGTVT to transform Ba Ngoi Port – an independent accouting member under Vietnam Maritime Corporation – to Single-shareholder Limited Company, and the port was renamed Cam Ranh Port.
